Virginia's Blue Ridge Tournament Series

News Detail

Sep, 2020

Parents from VBR Star and Valley United,

We are hard at work preparing for the return of soccer to the Valley.  The KIMOYO CUP will be one of the final spring tournaments offered in the state of Virginia for the 2020/2021 season.

We will ensure that this event adheres to all of the guidelines and recommendations from local health professionals and those from US Soccer.

As the tournament director for the Kimoyo Cup, I am asking for your help.  I am asking that you partner with me to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.  I ask that each of you read the Covid-19 Best Practices Agreement for Coaches and Team Managers.  Additionally, I would ask that you read the Covid-19 Explanation For Parents.

If a family member is sick or PENDING TEST RESULTS, DO NOT allow them to come to this event.  You know your children better than we do…if something is not right…if they are experiencing any of the common signs and symptoms associated with Covid-19, STAY-AT-HOME.

Here is how you can help.  Below we have added a SIGN-UP GENIUS link. I am asking for volunteers to serve as Field Marshalls.  The roles of the Field Marshall are:

  • Monitor fields, observe, and report to HQ
  • Remind others about social distancing
  • Help set expectations with spectators regarding fan lines

The sign-up genius link allows you to register to assist for the duration of (1) game.  You can register for more than one game if you are available.  Many hands make light work; please help us ensure the success of this event by filling up all of the available volunteer slots.

When the pandemic began, the Soccer Management Team went to work.  During the downtime, we listened, and we began developing plans for the safe return of our sport.  We are learning and continuously implementing new best practices to keep our players and spectators safe at our events

  • We need to change our behaviors when we arrive at the field, no congregating on walkways.
  • Players should always be carrying a mask and sanitizer with them.
  • Practice social distancing when you are around others.
  • FINISH THE GAME by not letting your guard down; continue to follow these guidelines until you return home Sunday night.
  • Above all…wear your mask!

We cannot do this without your support. Thank you in advance for your efforts to bring soccer back to the Valley!
